Hi, my name is Erez Cohen and I am a Men’s Health Counselor here at Florida Men’s Health Center. I would like to talk about Testosterone Replacement Therapy and how important it is in order for men to live a healthy, active life style.

When Testosterone levels decline in men, we tend to be more prone to many different health issues, such as diabetes, heart disease, blocked arteries, lack of energy, and extremely important to men, a lack of sexual desire.

Having said that, what I actually want to share with you guys today is the importance of normal testosterone levels.  Men that are younger than 40 years of age, with low levels, should consider all other therapy’s that can help increase Testosterone without actually taking Testosterone first.

If you have tried other therapy’s that were not successful, only then are you a candidate for testosterone replacement therapy. Before I start talking all about the other therapy’s that FMH offers for low T, I would like to explain why young men should not jump straight into Testosterone.

First, most young men are still able to produce high levels of Testosterone. Testosterone is produced in your testicles.  You have a hormone called Luteinizing Hormone that acts as a testosterone gauge in your body and is produced by your pituitary gland in your brain.  When testosterone levels are low and you’re not producing enough testosterone, the pituitary gland produces LH to stimulate your testicles to start producing testosterone at a higher level.

When young men take Testosterone or testosterone boosters that are sold at vitamin stores, you basically stop your own production of testosterone. That is something that as young men, you do not want to do.  You may also create an issue with infertility as well.

Here at FMH, we have treatments for young men that may work as good as taking Testosterone. The best part for young men, you will usually maintain those high levels for a while especially if exercising and eating properly.

You will have plenty of time to take Testosterone as you age, as I said in the beginning, it is extremely important for all age of men to have a healthy level of testosterone. Testosterone therapy is safe as long as you are being closely monitored.

Follow up blood work every so often is essential in order to make sure there’s no adverse effects. I hope I was able to shed some light on this very important subject and always feel free to contact us with any questions. Stay safe everyone.
